Home and Hot

Somewhere between Singapore and Darwin

The last few days I've been running around the city, sweating like crazy and LOVING it!! After leaving Frankfurt in a flurry of the first snow arriving here to the hottest day of the summer (so far) at 37 degrees felt pretty warm.

My flight was fairly uneventful if tediously long. Packed flights meant close proximity to fellow flyers. Singapore to Brissie I was sat next to a friendly girl from South Africa now living in London. As we started the descent I noticed her filling out the immigration form and inadvertently (kind of) noticed she had written "film director" for occupation. Sounded pretty cool. But that turned out to be her husband's because when she did her's next of course I was having a not so inadvertent sticky. She filled hers in with "model" as the occupation. That was just over the top. Nauseatingly cool. And did you know they don't even put spew bags behind the seats any more? When she had told me earlier they were "freelancers" I was imagining something as glamorous as English teaching to a bunch of bankers. I was sooooooo wrong.

Anyways when Suze met me at the airport with a beautiful bunch of flowers and whisked me straight up the coast to "The Resort" (aka Mum and Dad's) I felt like a superstar myself. Well a sleep deprived jetlagged superstar sans the big sunnies and Louis Vuitton luggage. Such a good feeling to be home for a few weeks of sun surf and being spoilt. And there's nothing like a juicy Bowen mango on a hot day.

'Vegas

Am off to Brisvegas tomorrow at mid-day and sit down folks…but I’ve already packed. The night BEFORE!!! My family who have been tortured by my last minute packing, sitting on suitcases and speeding to the airport for years would be impressed. Well they will be impressed if I do it again at the other end of the holiday when they’re there. I’m so packed I even have the bottle of water to hydrate on the plane all ready. Hmmm must have forgotten something important. Summer t-shirts and skirts, check; cute pressies from Christmas markets, check; half a suitcase of 30 year old Mercedes parts, check. Oh well maybe that’s everything then.

Smithy and I have just had a lovely pre-Chrissie weekend at Melmberby and the best thing about that is early Christmas pressies. Yay!!

Anyways if you’re in Brissie on Friday and fancy meeting up I’ll be on the old mobile number. Cheers!!

Elephants revealed

By the way, Claire has put up all the elephants for Month of Softies - check them out - so creative and cute. I have been smiling all day thinking about it.

I think I'm going to auction Indira on ebay and donate the proceeds to my World Vision boy for Christmas (cash probably being more useful than a stuffed elephant I imagine).

I really should be packing at the moment. But I really hate packing. So I'm procrastinating instead. But its not just any pack - its a three stage pack. First for London next week, then for Aus the day after I get back, then for the move to London at an indeterminate time in the future. Is it any wonder I'm putting off such a complicated pack. But now I only have two days to do it!! And I'll probably spend tomorrow trying to figure out how to sell something on ebay so then there will only be one day. eek.

Praha

Charles Bridge

What a beautiful city - much grander than I expected.

We stayed at appartments very close to the Old Town Square with Nic and the Glaswegian gang. As you can imagine it was pretty lively and possibly more time spent in bars than sightseeing. But you only had to walk outside to see the most amazing architecture - just stunning.

I have put up some more pics here.
